I was privileged to represent the Council at the Lanyon Christmas Carols and Picnic a few weeks ago. The event with families and friends coming together to share music and song in the grounds of the beautiful Lanyon homestead was a moving example the community spirit of Tuggeranong.
The smoke in the air is a continuing reminder of our relatives and neighbours in NSW who are struggling through some of the State’s worst bushfires. I’m sure many of us are reminded of how quickly the bushfires can impact on communities. I acknowledge the commitment and skill of the fire fighters and other response agencies in tackling these blazes and helping the communities through these difficult times.
Community Services Awards have been presented by the Council to graduating students from Tuggeranong high schools and colleges who have demonstrated commitment and practical service to their school and wider community.
On behalf of the Tuggeranong Community Council I wish all members of our Tuggeranong community best wishes for the festive session and awesome new year for 2020.
