I recently attended the opening of the new national headquarters of the Department of Social Services (DSS) on Tuesday 26th September by Senator Zed Seselja.
This office in Greenway will.be home to 2,500 staff. It is six storey, 38,400 square metre building was developed by the Cromwell Property Group and is estimated to be worth $260 million. Construction began in June 2015 and cost $172 million. (Canberra Times).
This has fulfilled the dream of former TCC President Eric Traise who fought to keep the DSS in Tuggeranong. He spoke to DSS officials at the time and organised a petition to help ensure the Department stayed in Tuggeranong. He agreed with Senator Seselja who said in 2015, “This development will have a positive economic impact on the local community . The senator said at the opening that “I fought hard to keep the Department of Social Services at Tuggeranong and I’m really pleased that this strong presence will now remain at the Tuggeranong town centre.”
I can only agree.
