As a follow-up to last year’s discussion on West Greenway, the West Greenway Stakeholder Panel (which then recommended against the development of the area into the new suburb of Thompson) met last week with members of the TCC Planning and Community sub committees, to look at the possibility of working towards a community driven vision for an environmental and sports hub that incorporates and integrates existing activities with ecologically sensitive growth opportunities for a precinct development and developing a sports tourism economy for the valley.
The group was happy to support this proposal as well as the idea of Vikings Club relocating their stadium to the area. This would enhance the area as a Environmental/Sporting (or Sporting/Environmental precinct) as well as contribute to protecting the environment of the area. So over the next few months we will be holding some public meetings to pursue this idea.
