ACT Policing is currently running a number of awareness campaigns in the Canberra region encouraging the public to report information to Crime Stoppers and help police keep our community safe.
Public awareness and reporting is essential in helping police tackle the illicit drug market and illicit firearms, it would be appreciated if you are able to distribute any of the campaign material via your contacts, website or social media channels to raise awareness of these campaigns. An electronic poster and postcard of the campaigns are attached for you and we also have a limited number of printed posters and postcards available if you would like any.
Please see below information that could be included as part of your websites and could link through to ACT Policing’s website.
Illicit drugs campaign – (www.police.act.gov.au/illicitdrugs)
ACT Policing has recently launched a three-month campaign targeting the manufacturing, sale and distribution of illicit and synthetic drugs in the ACT. The campaign aims to empower residents to report illegal and suspicious behaviour to Crime Stoppers to help disrupt Canberra’s illegal drug supply.
The campaign encourages people to contact Crime Stoppers of they suspect illicit drug dealing may be occurring in their neighborhood. Members of the public could receive a reward of up to $1000 for any information that leads to an arrest while still remaining anonymous.
Illicit firearms campaign (www.police.act.gov.au/illicitguns)
The ACT Government and ACT Policing are calling on the community to provide information that identifies the location of illicit firearms, particularly those in control of criminals. The campaign will run from 9 October 2013 until 31 January 2014, with rewards of up to $5000 on offer for information that leads to the seizure of illicit firearms or a successful prosecution for related crime.
