The ACT Government will delay the rollout of the Network 19 update that was due to be implemented at the start of Term 2, and begin a range of measures to ensure the safety of staff and the community in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The current bus and light rail timetable will continue for the time being, with contingencies prepared should there be a need to reduce services due to COVID-19. Transport Canberra will implement the Network 19 update at an appropriate time in the future.
During the COVID-19 response commuters are being asked to consider carefully their need for non-essential travel on public transport, to minimise unnecessary contact with other people. Those feeling unwell should not use public transport. Drivers are no longer accepting cash fares, access to buses should be via the rear doors unless requiring low floor access and the front seats have been closed off.
The presentation by Transport Canberra on Network 19 scheduled for the April 2020 TCC meeting has been deferred to a later meeting. Note that the Tuggeranong Community Council meeting scheduled for 7 April 2020 has been cancelled.
