A celebration of the life of our dear Tuggeranong Community Council colleague and friend, Alison Ryan, was held in the Chapel of Norwood Park Crematorium on Tuesday 10 June. Alison passed away peacefully at Clare Holland House on Tuesday June 3 surrounded by family after a 15-month battle with cancer. She was an active Council member and community worker attending many Council meetings despite her illness, her last being in April. She will be remembered for succeeding in her campaign to introduce random roadside drug testing in the ACT. I am sure you will join with us in passing on our deepest sympathies to Alison’s family.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Alison Ryan’s passing. She was a beautiful person and will be greatly missed by all her knew her. I consider myself privileged to be able to refer to her as a friend. Her bravery in dealing with her illness was inspirational and I draw strength from her example. As TCC President, I will miss her willingness to help out with any of the TCC activities. She was always ready to volunteer to help. Perhaps more of us could honour her by following her example. Carole and I extend my condolences to her family and friends. May she rest in peace.

I didn’t know Alison but I am saddened deeply by her passing. It is my loss not to have met her. Her work in the community is inspiring and as a mum my heart certainly feels the utter loss she must have endured through the loss of her daughter. I absolutely join with the Council in passing on my deepest sympathies to her family.
