It is with deep sadness we learn of the passing of one of our much loved TCC members, Rusty Woodward. Rusty’s family has asked the TCC to let you know.Rusty passed away on Friday night (11 April 2014) in Canberra Hospital. Not only was Rusty a member of the TCC, she was active in many community groups and services in Canberra.
She was a driving force behind the establishment of the Tuggeranong Senior Citizens Club, an active member of the ACT Lung Life Support Group and a dedicated worker with the Council on the Ageing. She was also involved in the sub committees of the TCC and its many community activities.
You will recall that in December Rusty was honoured for her community service with the unveiling of a plaque in her name as part of the Footsteps to Follow ACT Centenary Project in Tuggeranong. (pictured)
It will stand as a lasting tribute to valuable and much loved member of the TCC and the Canberra community.
We are sure you will join with us all in passing on our deepest sympathies to Rusty’s family and her many friends. Our hearts are with you at this time.

I had the pleasure of working alongside of Rusty in the development of the Tuggeranong 55 Plus Club. She was tireless in her work and was an amazing role model. She will be sadly missed and my thoughts go out to her family at this difficult time.

Rusty was an amazing, strong woman and wonderful advocate for her community. She was the perfect example of why it is so important to keep active when you get older and she was a real role model to me. Darryl recounted the story to me when Rusty appeared at the Senate inquiry into air quality when she hadn’t been long out of hospital and she went up to the Committee and gave evidence. This exemplified Rusty. I feel priviledged to have known her. Rusty, you will be missed.
