TCC President’s Report – 2nd August 2016

It has been another eventful month for Tuggeranong. Hopefully by now you will have seen our new website and have had a chance to look and respond to our long awaited Tuggeranong Livability Survey, designed to find our what people want for Tuggeranong. It can be seen on our website at www.tuggcc.com

With Brendan Smith’s retirement from the Legislative Assembly, I would like to acknowledge the work that he has done for us over the 21 years he has been attending the Tuggeranong Community Council. He is, I think, the longest serving member and probably been one, if not the most regular. He has always been willing to listen to our concerns and been happy to pass them on to the government.

TCC President’s Report – 7th June 2016

It has been a very exciting month for Tuggeranong with announcements:

  • On the 19 May that the Federal Government has committed $27 million to clean up Lake Tuggeranong. This money mentioned, together with the $4 million the ACT government has committed in today’s budget should make a great contribution to improving water quality in Lake Tuggeranong. Thanks go to all those who have supported and pushed for this result, particularly our Federal members and our local MLAs from both parties. We will hear the details later tonight
  • Ashley drive will be fully duplicated to Johnson Drive
  • New SES centre at Calwell
  • A new Park and Ride facility at Wanniassa
  • Shopping centre upgrade at Kambah Village and new street furniture and outdoor space upgrades in Anketell St, Tuggeranong
  • Trail green bins for Kambah
  • Hearing about the Vikings Club Proposal for future development

Report to TCC General Meeting 1ST Sepember, 2015

(Welcome everybody) Welcome to you all this evening and a special welcome to visitors attending tonight.

More than 140 people attended a memorial service on Friday 14 August, for our highly respected TCC President, Eric Traise who passed away last month. The service was held at University House at the Australian National University. It was attended by family, friends, TCC members, former RAAF and Air Services Australia colleagues and local politicians. The number and caliber of those who attended was testament to the high regard and respect in which Eric Traise was held throughout the community.

TCC Presents report August 2015

Welcome everybody. – It is a sad month for all of us on the Tuggeranong Community Council, as we learnt of the passing of our much loved and dedicated Tuggeranong Community Council (TCC) President, Eric Traise.

Eric passed away early Monday morning, 13 July after a long illness. The retired Royal Australian Air Force Officer from Newcastle served on the TCC for many years as a general member, Treasurer and TCC President in 2013 and, despite his illness, he stood and was re-elected for 2nd term in September 2014. He also served as Chair of Canberra Airport’s Community Aviation Consultative Group.

TCC Presents report July 2015

Welcome everybody. It is good to see you out on such a cold night. A lot has happened over the last month with many meetings to bring groups together in the Tuggeranong Valley so we can better support the Tuggeranong community. These meetings included meeting with Adrian Brown from the Tuggeranong Action Group to determine our common interests and work out how we could best work together to go forward. Adrian has said he is happy to work with us to form or for his group to become an activity/events subcommittee of the TCC. Later in the meeting Adrain will talk about ways we could promote and support Tuggeranong. I would also like to remind people again that there are a number of TCC subcommittees that you might like to join: Environment, the Health and Community, the Planning and Development and Transport. Please feel free to sign up at the back table.
