The TCC has been working with the Tuggeranong Lake Carers and the Southern ACT Catchment Group to put point out to the government the problems of Lake Tuggeranong – the fact that algal growth has closed the lake each summer since 2002. We have over the last four years supported forums, helped with lake cleanups, erosion control efforts, attended many meetings and have had people coming to various council meeting to talk over the issues. Finally with the consultation period of the Basin Priority Project under way we have submitted our final comments recommendations and appeal for real consideration be given to our issues. The $27 million recently promised by the Federal Government as part of the Basin Priority Project to help improve water quality in Lake Tuggeranong is, I believe, in large part the result of the work done by the TCC.
The Tuggeranong Community Council will be meeting via Zoom on Tuesday 1 December 2020 commencing at 7:30pm.
Our guest for the meeting will be Emma Dawson, Executive Director of Per Capita speaking on The Australian economy post the pandemic – policy recipes for a fairer and more equitable society.
