It’s always a pleasure to be able to talk about good news and this month I have three topics to share with you. Late last month, the Federal Government advised that they were going to provide $85 million over the next four years for projects to improve the health of ACT’s waterways. The ACT Government has confirmed that some of this money will be used to improve Lake Tuggeranong’s water quality.
The TCC has been lobbying for years for action to be taken so we will be taking a keen interest in how the money is spent. The Tuggeranong Community Health Centre, which has been undergoing major renovations for the last 18 months, is scheduled to re-open on 27th March with an expanded range of services. An open day last Saturday enabled the public to inspect the refurbished Centre. This facility is a valuable asset for Tuggeranong residents and its re-opening is very welcome.
Our next monthly meeting is Tuesday 1st April upstairs in Tuggeranong Southern Cross Club at 7.30pm. Our guest speaker is Mr Ben Smith from Capital Metro who will be talking about the Light Rail project. The meeting is open to the public so come along and hear about this project that is going to consume a lot of your dollars.
